It is the
beginning of summer. The sun’s blossoming rays peak out over a quiet suburban
park. A boy enjoying the weekend takes the opportunity to sit outside and read.
But there is a slight disturbance while he picks a spot: A sharp little pebble is stuck inside the heel of his shoe. When he sits down, he finds the pesky pebble has unfortunately left a gash in his sock. A distant thunderstorm approaches. The boy begrudgingly packs up his stuff, but realizes the torn sock has gone missing.
The sock—alive now either by magic or by pure willpower—charges towards the boy with its rock weapon locked and loaded. While in pursuit, the boy trips over where he meets his fate as the sock plants its revenge into the boy’s skull. The sock—now ten times its previous size—undresses from its cotton robe and emerges as the boy, like a beautiful butterfly breaking free from its cocoon. This is, after all, the cycle of life.
